

You are free to use the editor of your choice. Connect will use the PATH environment variable to discover a version of R if one is not otherwise found. RStudio Connect supports two ways of discovering R versions: scanning well-known locations and through direct configuration. The recommended approach to installing R on RStudio Connect is documented here. Optionally, there is a number of other text editors, which can be associated with R, e.g. Changing any of the configuration items discussed in this chapter requires a restart of RStudio Connect. The installation source depends on the Linux distribution version. It is a good idea to be on the current major version.
